Rural Ambassador Program

Young People with interest in Agricultural Shows or Rural Lifestyle are invited to compete to represent Lilydale A&H Society in the Rural Ambassador Competition.

The Awards highlight and celebrate rural and regional young people with particular emphasis on candidates who are involved in their local Show. The Awards seek to draw attention to the talent, creativity and ingenuity of young rural Victorians and assist and encourage them with career development and community involvement.

There are two sections:

Junior Show Ambassador – sponsored by Gallagher, open to entrants aged 16 -19 years on the weekend of the Show (16th and 17th of November 2024).

Rural Ambassador – Jointly sponsored by Melbourne Royal and Gallagher, open to ambassadors aged between 20 and 30 years as of the 1st May 2025 and
the finalist must reside in Victoria.

Both sections start at the local show or field day level and progress to a Group Final.

The Group winner of the Junior Show Ambassador is invited to compete at a State Final.

The VAS Rural Ambassador is slightly different with both the winner and runner up at the Group Final invited to compete at State level and ultimately at National Level. Significant prize money applies at State and National level ($3k).

During the Awards cycle, the candidates are able to participate in public speaking and leadership seminars to enable them to develop their communications and presentation skills.
